The best MagSafe battery packs for your iPhone, starting at just $20
If your phone battery runs out before the end of the day, shopping for a portable charger (aka power bank) might be a good idea. Most portable chargers require a cord, but if you have an iPhone 12, 13, or 14, you can just plug it into the back of your iPhone thanks to MagSafe technology. (Wow, magnet!) With so many wireless charger options on the market, finding the best MagSafe battery pack can be difficult, but I’ve highlighted four MagSafe power banks that I consider to be the strongest options due to their functionality.
The case you keep your smartphone in must be MagSafe compatible in order for the charger to clip onto it and it will still be able to magically deliver wireless charging power to your phone. Look for the “magnifying glass” design on the inside or outside of the MagSafe case to make sure it is compatible with the power bank.
How do MagSafe battery packs work?
These wireless charging pads are handy little gadgets that use magnets instead of wires or lightning cables to connect to your smartphone. You may also be wondering how much power these portable power banks provide. Three of the four devices have 5,000mAh batteries, which should be good for at least one full iPhone recharge. (For reference, the iPhone 13 includes a 3,227mAh battery.) The Anker 633 ups the ante to 10,000mAh and is only slightly thicker than other magnetic wireless power banks. The downside is that you’ll pay more for that extra juice, but it’s worth it if your phone’s battery is weak.
One more thing to note: All four nominees for MagSafe’s best charging pack come with a USB-C cable, but to actually recharge any of them, you’ll also need a USB-C AC adapter, which is no included. If you already have a fast charging power bank that can produce at least 5V/3A, go ahead and use it. A bargain to be beat, Fokimdo’s power pack is less than half the price of some others. Its slim kickstand allows the phone to be viewed in portrait and landscape mode. I wasn’t able to test this, but it has a solid 4.3-star rating from over 400 buyers. Warranty: 12 months.

The MagPak Charger is available in your choice of four colors (blue, illustrated, green, gray and charcoal), measures just half an inch thick and comes with a foldable kickstand cover that lets you prop your phone up in portrait or landscape mode. Guidance. Warranty: 18 months.
Langerhans
For anyone who can’t live without a PopSocket, this is the battery pack to get. Anker basically grafted one of the small pop-up handles onto a fairly standard Magsafe charger. What’s nice is that it can also be used as a stand, though only in landscape orientation. Wait for a sale on this one; I’ve seen it as low as $40. Warranty: 18 months.
Langerhans
Big Kahuna of the bunch, the Anker 633 packs a 10,000mAh battery and includes a fold-out kickstand, which turns it into a charging stand. It also has a 20W USB-C Power Delivery port if you want faster charging speed via a USB-C-to-Lightning cord (not included). This doesn’t sell often, but it was as low as $60. Warranty: 24 months.
